What's Inspected?

Home Inspections are completed to the Standards of Practice as stated by the Louisiana State Board of Home Inspectors

The following are some of the items that are inspected while in the home. You will receive a Standards of Practice copy before the walk through. The information within the Standards of Practice gives you what is required and not required to be inspected by the licensed home inspector.


Structural: Includes Foundations, Grading and Drainage, Roof Covering Materials, Roof Structure and Attic, Walls, Ceilings, Floors, Doors, Windows, Stairways, Fireplaces, Chimneys, Porches, Balconies, Decks, and Carports.

Electrical Systems: Includes Service Entrance Panels / Disconnects, Panel Boxes, Branch Circuits, Connected Devices (switches, plugs, GFCI, etc.) and Fixtures (lighting, fans etc.).

Heating, Air Conditioning, Ventilation Systems: Includes Heating Equipment (furnace), Cooling Equipment (Condenser/Compressor Unit, Evaporator, Drains) Duct Systems, Chases and Vents/Registers.

Plumbing Systems: Includes Water supply system and fixtures, Drains, Wastes, Vents, Water Heating Equipment, Hydro Massage Therapy Equipment (whirlpool tubs). 
NOTE: Septic systems and water wells require a separate inspection and are not included.


Appliances: Includes Dishwasher, Food Waste Disposer, Range Exhaust Vent, Ranges, Cook-tops, Ovens, Trash Compactor, Mechanical Exhaust Vents, Bathroom Heaters, Garage Door Operators, Doorbells and Dryer Vents.

Optional Systems: Includes Lawn Sprinkler Systems, Alarm Systems, Outbuildings, Outdoor Cooking Equipment, Gas Supply Systems.
